Meditation

How much time in a given day do you feel overwhelmed, stressed, anxious or conflicted? Practicing meditation can bring calm into our lives in a multitude of ways. Meditation can be as simple as just conscious breathing. It can be as short as one minute or as long you want it to be. There is no right or wrong way to meditate.

My instruction focuses on meditation for a modern lifestyle. Because you are unique, and there is no single right way to meditate, my classes offer exposure to a variety of techniques. You get to choose which modality fits your life.

Classes are taught in a simple format in which anyone can participate, regardless of level of experience or commitment. This includes

children, teens, students, adults, families, athletes and teams.

Frequently Asked Questions

Meditation: FAQ

What if I can't keep my mind from running?

Practicing meditation would be daunting if you were expected to keep your mind completely devoid of all thoughts.
As it turns out, this is impossible. Meditation is about slowing down and being present in the moment and learning to watch these thoughts as an impartial bystander.

What if I can't sit cross-legged comfortably?

There is no hard and fast rule says that you have to sit that way. There are some traditions where sitting on cushion is preferable, but you can be in whatever position makes you most comfortable. This could include sitting on a chair or couch.

I have tried meditation and it doesn't work for me. How will this help?

It's possible that the meditation practice wasn't right for you. There is a reason it is called practice, meaning it is always a process and there is no perfection. Sometimes exploring different methods can be beneficial, until you find what works for you.

I had the opportunity to take one of Julie's meditation seminars and I must say she has helped me tremendously in a very short period of time. As a former world class track athlete, I could have used her teachings when competing. I was a total head case and blew my chance at making the Olympic team because I was unable to contain my nervous energy and remained unfocused. Since her her class, I have been meditating on a daily basis as well as controlling my breathing and the like. She is a very knowledgable consultant. If you are looking to control stress, anxiety or release the everyday stuff life throws at you she is the person to work with!

Julie Ratinoff's Meditation Classes were my first introduction to the practice of meditation.  I am continually impressed by how simply she explains all the concepts and how easy it is to follow.  I have learned so many helpful techniques to use on my own and her in-class guided meditations are bliss.  I leave each class feeling calm, relaxed, completely refreshed and ready to face the world and any challenges that arise.  Julie is a ray of sunshine and I am blessed and thankful to know her.  I look forward to each opportunity to take her classes and further my meditation education.

I've attended two of Julie's meditation classes, one as a guest and another as a host.  What she's taught me has helped me so much with reducing anxiety and tension in my life.  And she is such a friendly, down to earth person!  If you have a chance to attend one of her sessions, do it!  It's so worth it!
